Life is like a box of chocolates.

You never know what you're gonna get.

The PortuGal is beginning to empathize with Forrest Gump.

The road I was on yesterday.
The road I am on today.
I arrived in Porto late yesterday afternoon after a 30 km walk. It's not as bad as it sounds because the weather was so nice and cool. However, Porto is a huge city with 500,000 in the city itself and another 1.5 million in the surrounding catchment area. I had to walk for a couple hours in the city just to find my hotel.

Today was a rest day but I found myself to just be restless. Too many people, too much noise. I spent part of the day looking at the "must see" sights but what what I'm really looking forward to is being back on the road tomorrow

It got me thinking about the end of this journey. I'm so used to lacing up my boots, buckling up my backpack and hitting the road every morning that I'm wondering what I'll do with myself when this is all over.

Oh well,

  1. Hi Judy, Great to hear from you.
Glad to hear the heat is not as intense, it can really zap your strength.
You always finish what you start, so my bet is you will set new goals for walking.

  2. What are you going to do when you get back you ask? Go to the lake and sit down for a minute or two. Let me make you a Cran Soda and tell me about your adventure. Then go for a boat ride and a swim and jump off the dock etc etc etc. I am taking the boots back once you get home. To be put in temporary custody till you hang out for a while. Missing my sister.

  3. All is well in Missoula. Almost as hot here but no humidity compared to you! Keep on stepping forward....at least that is what I do every day! Love you, M-Belle

  4. Ever since I told Felix about the yellow arrows that you're following, he's been making them out of everything. I think he's trying to lure you back home!

  5. Judilee: Here's what you can do when you get back: First of all, I'm with Brendan, take your boots off and put your feet up and tell us all about your odyssey! Then eat cake. Chocolate cake! Share lots of laughs with all of us who love you so much, and then you can start planning your next walk. So much planet, so much to see! We sure miss you, but there is not one of us that is not bursting with pride for what you are doing. You. Rock. Girl. (Big cyber hugs!) love, Jen
